BRC make a statement on fishmeal used in farmed prawn feed.

In April, 2013, researchers working on the SEAT project helped the BRC facilitate a meeting of their members to discuss the issues surrounding warm water prawn farming. The academics were able to use findings from the project to provide the retailers with up-to-date back ground information about prawn farming, the species and methods used as well as the range of feed types and composition, for some of the largest exporting countries of farmed prawns.

In June the major UK food retailers combined to release a joint statement about their position on farmed prawns and their feed resulting from this meeting and the information provided through the SEAT project.
